WEEKEND is here! Just the right time for my third fitness post! Got big plans for the weekend? Spring is in the air and its time for sipping martinis/beers at patio bars! I hope this article resonates or motivates y’all and sets you up for beating the Monday blues!

What to do after a night out or a weekend of eating more than you meant to or drinking more than you wanted to? Common problem? “Feeling like shit after a night out with friends that came down from somewhere and it just went with the flow”
I hear ya! I can’t say been there done that because I still do that! The only difference now if you ask me, is that I take care of myself the next day. Stop being paranoid about enjoying yourself or overindulging one night or a couple of nights. Stop stressing over stuff like this. It is life my friends and it is meant to be LIVED. You cannot live by a routine your entire life. Yes, you can have those phases and then once in a while, let your guard down and enjoy while you can.
Sentences like “today is my cheat day” or “I have been drinking celery juice for a week now so let’s go hit a bar since my so-called detox is over” is exactly what makes you hate the “routine” you have been trying to follow to lose weight. Why make something so hateful a routine? And then blow that all out on a weekend and feel bad the next day? My first fitness post talks about my experience and my journey to weight loss. This post is all about how I recover after a good indulgent weekend or even two!
1)Crying over spilled milk mindset.
Channelize that energy to a productive cause. For instance, meal prep for the week and drown your sorrow in that! Socializing or meeting with friends should not make you feel guilty the next day/week. We are all social animals. If something makes you feel good at the time or moment, then, by all means, you should do it. On the contrary, it should get you back on track the next day. That should motivate you. Perception plays a major role here. Look at it this way- you had a great night or two or even if it’s 7-10 days, it felt good to slow down a bit and you had your cheese and meat and all the sugar your body needed and now its time to slam it down!
2)List
Write down your to-do things for the week ahead. Plan a workout schedule and then accordingly meal prep for the week. Signs of a good workout? You want to bite into anything the minute you enter your kitchen after the workout. So, if you have a plan already, you have the chopped veggies or boiled eggs or whatever whole grains and fruits you have planned for, it just needs to be either heated up or cooked/baked.
3)Real stuff
If you allow for some deviations (because you are human) you allow your body to bounce back to a good workout in a much needed refreshed way and believe me you, your body is gonna thank you! Never hammer yourself for a workout or for missing one. Disconnect emotions with it. That is indeed very difficult. You have to slowly build yourself that way. This should be something you do to feel better, stronger AND also to enjoy the ride at getting better and stronger.
4) Mindset
There’s no need to pressurize yourself for a workout the next day! Your body will self-regulate because it’s wonderful that way! There’s no body fat you could have possibly picked up in a span of 8 hours. Mostly, water retention. YOUR mindset is absolutely in your control. It’s only human to feel distracted on some days, you owe that to yourself. It’s ok to cry, it’s ok to not feel good about something you did last week and it’s ok to skip a workout on some days. You see, if it’s the mind that needs the rest, no matter how restless you feel, you won’t be at peace even after the best workout. Do what makes YOU feel good. Feed yourself with densely nutritious and homemade meals. Feed your mind with good thoughts. Forgive and forget, as difficult as it seems, is the only way to feel good. On most days, let your mind be the deciding factor. All comes back to how you prioritize your workout. If something is as important as it is to eat, you will find a way and a determination to move/workout every single day.
Keep these in mind before you decide to have an indulgent weekend and let loose. It is all about living and enjoying every moment!
